Position: Accounts Assistant

Job Summary

The Accounts Assistant will support the finance and administration functions of Ecanat Group by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial procedures. The role demands high integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward improving financial efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in recording and posting daily financial transactions into accounting systems.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, and other financial documentation.
  • Support preparation of monthly bank reconciliations and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain accurate petty cash records and support staff advances and accountabilities.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for management and project teams.
  • Support filing and safeguarding of accounting and financial documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with auditors during audits.
  • File tax Returns
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Finance and Administration Officer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a consulting/accounting firm.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks).
  • Sound understanding of financial regulations and basic tax procedures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Membership or student membership in ACCA or CPA (U) will be an added advantage.

Job Summary

The Research and M&E Assistant will support the planning, implementation, and documentation of Ecanat’s research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities. The position involves supporting data collection and analysis; assisting in the preparation of reports and knowledge products; and contributing to the overall effectiveness of Ecanat’s research and consulting engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of research and M&E activities across Ecanat projects.
  • Assist in developing data collection tools and coordinating field data collection exercises.
  • Participate in preliminary data analysis using software such as STATA or R
  • Contribute to report writing, presentations, and documentation of key findings and lessons.
  • Support data visualization and preparation of dashboards for internal and client reporting.
  • Participate in learning and reflection sessions, and contribute to knowledge management efforts.
  • Maintain proper data storage and documentation systems in line with Ecanat’s standards.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Research and M&E Officer or Team Lead.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, or data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in using data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO) and analysis software (SPSS, STATA, Excel, R, or similar).
  • Good understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • High levels of integrity, initiative, and commitment to quality work.
