    Our team at ECANAT Group Ltd offers expert-led solutions in environmental management with a strong focus on the sustainable conservation and development of natural resources. We are a consortium of skilled environmental scientists, foresters, and limnologists with extensive academic and professional backgrounds in sustainable forestry, land, and water resource management. Our expertise covers the protection and restoration of ecological integrity through services in aquatic ecosystem assessment, water quality monitoring, biomonitoring, sanitation and hygiene support, and waste management. We have successfully conducted environmental feasibility assessments, technical investigations, site verifications for Small Scale Irrigation Systems (SSIS) and valley tanks , and have led Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) processes.

    Our experience includes:

    • Providing technical support to fisheries-related projects in collaboration with local governments and national research institutions like NARO-NAFIRI.
    • Contributing to the national update of Uganda’s soil map.
    • Conducting ecological surveys across more than 30 river systems to support the development of standardized freshwater bioassessment methods.
    • Developing Terms of Reference (ToRs) for environmental consultancies and contractors.
    • Leading research in aquatic ecology, land use change analysis, soil and watershed management, and environmental pollution assessment.
    • Utilizing technical tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace for research and management.Climate Action

    ECANAT Group Ltd. integrates climate action into every aspect of our work, from natural resource management to infrastructure development. We are committed to helping communities and governments mitigate and adapt to climate change. Our approach combines scientific innovation with local and indigenous knowledge to build resilience. The team possesses extensive experience in climate change adaptation, displacement research, and designing community-centered climate action programs.

    Our climate action services and experience include:

    • Implementing nature-based solutions such as reforestation and watershed management.
    • Conducting climate risk and vulnerability assessments.
    • Undertaking carbon flux monitoring and developing ecosystem-based mitigation strategies.
    • Supporting the development of climate-resilient infrastructure and water resource protection frameworks.
    • Providing policy support that aligns with Uganda’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the Paris Agreement.
    • Launching the Green Leaders Project, which has trained over 500 university students on climate mitigation and adaptation strategies aligned with Uganda’s NDCs.
    • Conducting ongoing research on flood-induced displacement in Mbale City using GIS, Flood Vulnerability Assessment (FVA), and Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) approaches
